The Disadvantages Of Teenage Pregnancy

Television shows like Teen Mom makes it seems pretty easy. Despite the fact they had their children very young and work dead end jobs, they can still afford cars, houses, tattoos, and cosmetic surgeries. That is the world of showbiz, but real life is not like that.
Its so much more than kids will be raising kids. Viewers may forget to remember that they are being paid thousands to appear on the show. It was even rumored that teenage age girls were getting pregnant of purpose so that they could have a chance to appear on one MTV’s so called

documentaries about teen pregnancy.

A Teenager’s Body Isn’t Designed To Carry And Give Birth To A Child - A female doesn’t reach her idea child bearing age until around twenty years old. This is the age when the human body typically stops growing, and is therefore ready to support another human being. In fact having a baby under the age of 20 can have serious health risks to the mother, including but not limited to pre-eclampsia. Pre-eclampsia can threaten both the life of the mother and her unborn child. This condition also carries a higher risk of needing a C- Section, and although this procedure is now very common it is still major surgery and carries higher risks than a natural birth.

Growing Up Too Fast - By being a

teenage mother they will miss out on their childhood. While her friends are planning parties and worrying about Make -Up and boys, all of the young mother’s time will be spent looking after her baby. She will no longer have a life of her own or have the freedom that a normal teenager would have.

Her Education May Suffer - Little time to study and sleepless nights. Its a wonder if a teen mother may have any time to take her exams, let alone achieve a high grade. Many teen mothers simply drop out of school all together. This will have a negative impact for the rest of her life.

Work - If she can not pass her exams and gains to work experience then what is her hope of finding a job? With a child to bring up perhaps she will have to wait until her child is old enough to go to school until she can think about seeking employment. With her working hours limited, she may not be able to earn enough money to live on. It is much harder to get a decent job when you have a baby to consider.
