Like most people I am glued to my computer almost daily and obviously I’m using my computer to write and publish this article. It got me thinking, would we cope without computers and internet.
Obviously a hundred years ago people didn’t have computers and internet and they got a long just fine because such a thing never crossed their minds. However nowadays it seems people can barely go five minutes without having to log onto a computer for something.
Society has made it that owning a computer and internet access in mandatory. If you want a job most of them require that you search and apply online, not to mention that your CV has to be typed up and printed.
Even now in the UK you have to pay to park by text message or by paying online. Why is society putting so much importance on the internet when our parents did more than fine with it. The Internet has many advantages and is a great thing to have but it should be allowed to dominate our lives day in and day out. Sometimes I really feel like a slave to my computer and I have to force myself to put it down.
Does anyone else feel like that?
