In the US the most evil of criminals are given the death sentence, there has been much debate about bringing it here to the UK.
When I was younger I was dead against putting people to death for their crimes, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve changed my mind and this is why.
Murderers destroy lives and are dangerous to society so as well as being locked up for decades in extreme cases they should be put to death. Its not about killing someone, its about bringing in tougher laws and punishments because the UK is becoming too soft.
I posted a question asking if the death penalty should be brought to the UK and these are the results:
“ No. The courts make mistakes and lock people up for crimes they never committed then let them go with money like it makes up for all the years. Imagine a death penalty on that. Rehabilitation is the answer and that's what this country is officially crap at.
People make bad choices and for that they should be punished. But death?! With the knowledge we have these days? NO.”
“ Yes the main reason is does a person who rapes and murders a child have a right to live and just spend a mere 30 year good behavior in prison, now where's your god. Wouldn't be saying the same if it happened to your kid”.
“ yes. There are some people in this world that are so broken and evil that nothing will fix them, when they sit in prison they are a risk to the other inmates, guards, and just eat up tax money.
With DNA it is almost impossible to wrongly convict someone now.”
“ NO! some people deserve it! but some don't....
my dad went to prison for two years for a crime he didn't even commit!
they had a man saying my dad was there at the time of the crime and he was the one who done it, which was all lie's.my dad was at home in the bath he even had several alibi's to prove this but the police were given fake evidence and a fake witness! my dad had to plead guilty to a crime he didn't even do so his sentence wouldn't be as long,he needed to get home to his family! my mum was pregnant with me when my dad went into prison i was like 2 years old when he got out...
5 years after my dad got out of prison, police found new evidence and discovered my dad was infact innocent, and the person who committed the crime was the witness who insisted my father was the criminal.even though my dad was proved innocent it was to late he had a criminal record and had to go through 2 years of hell for nothing and miss his little girl being born and raised, something he can never get back.
my dad was set up! what if he was set up for a more serious crime and the death sentence was his punishment? an innocent man would have been killed because of false information and mistakes on behalf of the police. i say no to the death penalty because of this, and i think its a damn good reason.”
